Blues of a Conformist Colour

A song that I have invited Tilehurst Children's Arkestra to use ..

I experience a standard angst,
My misery is measured.
It surfaces for time to time,
Even when well-leisured.

I have no muse to lift my soul,
No escape from despair.
The words I drag forth from my pen,
Are quite a leaden fare.

I'm hard to spot within a crowd,
My blandness hides me well.
Our differences all fade to grey,
A human storm, a swell.

I sort my woes like butterflies,
And pin them in a grid.
Their drab and unattractive shapes,
Are things I cannot rid.

That Cheesy, Groovy Feeling

A song written for my oldest niece in 2006 ...

I'm related to Mick Jagger,
But he's not on the phone,
So I settled for my uncle,
Otherwise he'd moan!

But he told me of this feeling ... (oooh oooh)
This cheesy, groovy feeling ... (oooh oooh)
Funky enough to raise the ceiling ... (oooh oooh)
And not the least appealing ... (oooh oooh)

He claims to be a writer,
But I've never seen him write.
I doubt he wrote this himself,
I don't think he's that bright!

[Repeat Chorus]

Our credibility is trashed now,
Our reputation's down the drain,
For he bribed my band to play it,
Much to my utter shame!

[Repeat Chorus]
